Questions
What is different between the Group Coaching and the 1 on 1 Coaching?
Group Coaching is a structured, step-by-step course designed for players in a similar rating range. It covers core improvement areas like tactics, calculation, and positional understanding in a methodical way, helping you build strong fundamentals and improve steadily over time. 1-on-1 Coaching is fully personalized and focuses on your own games, mistakes, and patterns. It’s designed to target specific issues you can fix quickly, as well as deeper work like opening preparation or any areas of your game you know are weak and want to improve directly.
How do I sign up for the Group Coaching discount rate?
You can simply pay the discounted monthly rate of $75. The group coaching is normally $20 per week, but the monthly option gives you access for $75 instead of paying weekly. Once you’ve paid, you’ll be included in all group coaching sessions for that month, and you won’t be charged for individual weeks.
What is your chess rating?
I've hit 2113 rapid and 1978 blitz on chess.com. My USCF is currently 1560, but I haven't put a ton of time into OTB chess.
What rating range do you coach?
All levels welcome. Sessions are tailored to where you are and where you want to go.
How long have you been coaching?
I've been teaching chess for around 2 years.
What are your favourite openings?
My favourite opening is the Jobava system, which I enjoy because it has clear plans but also a lot of aggressive and creative possibilities depending on how Black responds. As Black, I play the Caro-Kann and the Classical Dutch. I like the Caro-Kann because it’s simple, solid, and I usually feel like I understand exactly what I’m supposed to be doing. The Classical Dutch is much more aggressive, and I enjoy the attacking positions it creates, especially the chances to build towards a kingside attack and go for checkmate.
